ARMENIAN RESEARCH DEPARTMENT AT BERLIN UNIVERSITY WILL BE CLOSED

The Freie Universitat Berlin's Armenian Studies Chair will no longer
function, University Professor Jirayr Kotscharjan stated during a
press conference on Friday.
"The Chair functions since 1921. After the fall of the Berlin
Wall, it was decided to minimize The Freie Universitat Berlin. This
notwithstanding, the Armenian chair continued its activities. But due
to a lack of state assistance and funding by Armenia, the Chair will
close in September 2013," the Professor noted.
As per Jirayr Kotscharjan, he was unable to meet with Armenia's
Education and Science, or Diaspora ministers because they are very
busy.
