    JORGE ORRICO PAID A TRIBUTE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

    YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS: President of the Chamber of
    Representatives of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Jorge Orrico
    and the delegation headed by him visited Tstitsernakaberd, memorial
    perpetuating the memory of innocent victims of Armenian Genocide. As
    Armenpress reports, Uruguayan high ranking officials accompanied by
    National Assembly deputy speaker Edward Sharmazanov laid a wreath at
    the Monument and flowers at the Eternal Fire.

    Hayk Demoyan, Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Director hosted the
    foreign high ranking officials in the Museum introduced them with the
    exhibits of 20th century's greatest crime. The delegation members left
    their impressions in the Commemoration Book. "On behalf of Uruguay
    we once again adopt the struggle you are pursuing. It is impossible
    to move forward without perseverance to recognize the present".

    President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Oriental Republic
    of Uruguay planted a symbolical tree in memory Alley.

    The delegation headed by President of the Chamber of Representatives
    of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Jorge Orrico arrived in Armenia on
    November 12 evening by the invitation of National Assembly chairman
    Hovik Abrahamyan. Uruguay is the world's first country to recognize
    the Armenian Genocide in 1965 by a Resolution and passed a law in
    the Parliament in 2004.

    Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Oriental
    Republic of Uruguay were established on May 27, 1992.
