"WE NEED QUALIFIED CLERGY WHO ALSO HAVE RECEIVED UNIVERSITY DEGREES", STATED
HIS HOLINESS ARAM I
Addressing the members of the brotherhood recently, Catholicos Aram I said
that true dialogue between clergy and laity could take place only when our
clergy are academically equipped to understand the concerns and problems.
Therefore, higher studies in theology and, or, language skills are
essential.
He then read the names of the young clergy who had been admitted to
universities or theological faculties in Canada, Greece and Lebanon. He also
presented a list of clergy who were learning different languages.
He then thanked the Haigazian University for having cooperated with the
seminary in organizing special English language classes.
