Armenian youth of CIS to gather in Russia

On November 16 in Russian City of Rostov-on-Don the first conference
of the directors and representatives of Armenian youth organizations
from all the CIS countries has started. The conference has been
organized by the Armenian Ministry of Diaspora with the support of
Don's Nakhijevani Armenian community and the cooperation with
Armenians in Russia Union.
The opening speech was made by the head of the local Armenian
community H. Surmalyan, head consul A. Gomtsyan, and Atom Mkhitarya,
the head of pan-Armenian programs department of the Armenian Ministry
of Diaspora, presented a talk on `21 century challenges and issues of
Armenian youth.' He, particularly, saluted the directors of the
Armenian youth organizations, and voiced his hope, that the conference
will bring tangible results in addition to its cognitive, political,
moral and historical significance, and most importantly continuity.
Mkhitaryan, while presenting the main issues surrounding the Armenian
young people, assured, that our collective goal must be to have
powerful, strong, proud Armenia, to take part in its development and
to create all the conditions for the Armenian person to preserve an
Armenian culture in Diaspora.
During the conference the CIS Armenian youth organizations have
presented their own initiatives, have talked about the implementation
projects against anti-Armenian propaganda, projects on eradication of
Genocide after effects and on sustenance of Armenians in Diaspora and
the support the government could provide. Today the conference will be
continuing its work.
Note that more than 100 of Armenian young people from CIS countries
are taking part in the conference.
`We are going to support the creation of a body that will be
systemizing the work of CIS Armenian youth organizations,' Atom
Mkhitaryan has added.
