IN NAGORNO KARABAKH THE VISIT OF THE OSCE MINSK GROUP CO-CHAIRS IS CONSIDERED TO BE AN ATTEMPT TO FIND A WAY OUT FROM THE DEADLOCK CREATED BY AZERBAIJAN

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS. Because of the destructive and
fascist policy of Azerbaijan the negotiations regarding the regulation
of the conflict have almost appeared in the deadlock. In a conversation
with "Armenpress" the Head of the General Press Department of the NKR
President Stuff Davit Babayan stated that currently we face a rather
unique situation. Hence, Davit Babayan does not have any expectations
regarding the visit of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs to the region
at the present moment.
Babayan noted: "At the present moment it's of a certain importance for
the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs to maintain the peace and stability
in the region. For this reason the procedure of the regulations
must go on. Various meetings must be convened, which although will
not cause any essential change." Notwithstanding Babayan emphasized
the importance of the upcoming visit, as currently it is an attempt
to find a way out from the present situation. According to the
Head of the Department they had not face such situation since 1994;
therefore the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs must make efforts to change
the situation somehow.
The OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs Robert Bradtke of the United States,
Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, and Jacques Faure of France
will visit Yerevan on November 23. The mediators of the regulation of
the Nagorno Karabakh conflict are planning to have meetings with the
President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the Minister
of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Edvard Nalbandyan.
The Azerbaijani mass media states that in frames of the visit of
the co-chars to the region they will visit Baku on November 26 and
have meetings with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov. In case
of favorable weather conditions the co-chairs will probably visit
Stepanakert as well.
