THE BLUE MOSQUE OF YEREVAN TO BE INTRODUCED TO UNESCO FOR THE INVOLVEMENT IN THE LIST OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. On the invitation of the Minister of
Culture and Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed
Mohammad Hoseini the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia
Hasmik Poghosyan paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of
Iran on November 13-15. The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of
Armenia informed "Armenpress" that in the framework of the visit the
positions of "the Agreement about the Cooperation of the Minister
of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and Ministry of Culture and
Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran 2013-2015" had been
under discussion. Also issues regarding the future development of the
Armenian-Iranian cultural cooperation and cooperation in UNESCO were
involved in the agenda of the meeting.
In frames of the visit the Minister of Culture of the Republic of
Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan had a meeting with the Director of the
national Archive and Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr.
Salehi. During the meeting the sides made an agreement about the
cooperation in the listing, research and the organization of joint
exhibitions of the Armenian and Iranian manuscripts of the funds of
the National Libraries of the both countries.
As a result of the meeting of the Minister of Culture and Islamic
Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Mohammad Hoseini and
the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan
the sides have made a decision about the cooperation in a number of
international organizations. In particular the parties put a heavy
emphasis on the development of joint applications to UNESCO for
the non-material cultural heritage. In frames of the meeting the
counterparts also considered the application of the Armenian side
regarding the involvement of the Blue Mosque of Yerevan in the lists
of world cultural heritage.
