Armavir region is the last destination of the joint initiative of
the Armenian Eye Care Project (AECP) and Orange Foundation for 2012,
the objective of which was to provide free eye screening services
to the residents of RA regions, as well as treatments for socially
disadvantaged people.
7,000 residents of Armavir region, out of which 1,200 children,
underwent eye screenings. Over 2,000 people were provided with
glasses. 9 schools of the region hosted eye care comprehensive classes
for 505 children. At the end of the works being carried out in Armavir
region (i.e., beginning of December 2012) the number of surgeries
and laser treatments will amount to about 300. For implementation
of this phase of the initiative the Orange Foundation has invested
7,299,730 AMD.
The AECP's Mobile Hospital was hosted by Myasnikyan, Armavir and
currently by Vagharshapat villages. In Baghramyan village the AECP

Armenia Fund (COAF) to carry out the works together.
Today Vagharshapat village hosted Francis Gelibter, Chairman of the
Board of the Orange Foundation, who witnessed the process of eye
screenings and surgeries in the AECP's Mobile Hospital.
Francis Gelibter, Chairman of the Board of the Orange Foundation,
said: "Armavir is the sixth region we have visited with the Armenian
Eye Care Project. Together we could help many people to return their
sight. As a responsible company enrolled in the economic, as well as
social and cultural life of the country, we are happy to note that
our partnership will have continuation in other regions as well,
as we realize that we are bringing real changes into peoples' life."
In the scope of the joint initiative of the AECP and Orange Foundation
for 2011-2012, in 6 regions of Armenia - Aragatsotn, Shirak, Syunik,
Vayots Dzor, Ararat and Armavir, 23,364 adults and 5,783 children
benefited from free medical services. 3,055 residents underwent
deep eye screenings in the Mobile Hospital, out of which 1,900
benefited from free surgeries and laser treatments. 10,939 glasses
were provided. 36 schools of RA region hosted eye care comprehensive
classes for 1,944 children.
It is pleasant for the AECP to note that the results achieved have
considerably exceeded predefined targets.
Total 37,719,460 AMD has been invested by the Orange Foundation to
support the works carried out by the AECP in 2011-2012.
Noune Yeghiazaryan, Director of the AECP Country Office, said:
"The results we have now are the testimony to the fact that our
partnership with the Orange Foundation is gaining a considerable
meaning for keeping eye health of RA population. Partnership with
the Orange Foundation is really very important for us, as it enables
us to carry out larger scale activities. This is not a promo, but an
important initiative aimed at providing quality eye care services for
the population of Armenia. We thank the Orange Foundation on behalf
of many thousands of people and hope that our partnership with the
Foundation will have continuation in future as well."
