SHUSHI APPEARS BEFORE TOURISTS IN A QUITE NEW WAY

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS: Shushi is being developed,
constructed, reconstructed and completely repaired. As the Mayor of
Shushi Karen Avakimyan stated in a conversation with "Armenpress",
there have been a lot of changes in Shushi in recent years, and today
it appears before tourists in a new way. The Girls' school building
was reconstructed, two hotels were built, which has contributed to the
increasing number of tourists, school buildings and Shushi gallery
were rebuilt, the streets were asphalted. The Mayor emphasized:
"The very rich heritage evidenced about the fact that Shushi is a
long-standing cultural center. Shushi monuments are in the center
of attention of tourists, particularly Shushi Ghazanchetsots Church,
which recently enriched by a new and exclusive Gospel."
The exclusive Gospel was bought and donated by American-Armenian
Garnik Galstanian. The Gospel, which is dated back to the beginning of
19th century, was bought from Iranian Atrpatakan by American-Armenian
benefactor; the contributor decided to return it back to the owner,
the Ghazanchetsots Church, and it was solemnly handed to the primate
of the Artsakh Diocese.
As Avakimyan mentioned, there are many reform programs, which
are still in progress. The reconstruction of the Vocational school
reconstruction, the construction of the House of the Culture and the
branch of the Agrarian University, as well as the reconstruction of
the boarding school are in process now.
