Several Armenian environmental activists have joined their efforts
to demand fair selection of the Khosrov State Reserve director.
In a statement to the Ministry of Nature Protection, members of
the civil groups, Khosrov Reserve and Trchkan, call for ensuring
transparent procedures of contest.
"We are concerned by the format the ministry has chosen to conduct
the contest. We call for making the candidates' full records public
to enable the public to evaluate all this," Anna Shahnazaryan, one
of the activists, told a news conference on Friday.
The activists' are concerned by the candidates' biopgraphies as they
know one of them is a poacher with a just secondary school degree. The
propose their own candidates who they claim are fully fit for the
vacant position announced. But they complain that there is no more
chance for submitting documents as the Ministry organized everything
in a closed manner.
"We ask for giving our candidates a chance to submit their applications
to ensure competitiveness and select the best [candidate]," said Mary
Khachatryan, another activist.
