Vazgen Sargsyan and Karen Demirchyan Were Not Pro-Westerners

`The information circulated by some news agencies very often recently
    - and I think already quite deliberately - that Karen Demirchyan and
Vazgen Sargsyan decided at the end of their life to change Armenia's
external political course and take a pro-Western course doesn't
correspond to the reality,' Movses Shahverdyan, the leader of the
Labor Socialist Party of Armenia, stated during a conversation with
    www.aravot.am.

Let us note that different publications have mentioned recently that
Demirchyan and Sargsyan made such a decision after paying a visit to
the US. Movses Shahverdyan reminds that Karen Demirchyan visited two
countries - the Federal Republic of Germany and the Russian Federation
    - during his tenure in the National Assembly. Only Vazgen Sargsyan
visited the US. Shahverdyan claims that after Vazgen Sargsyan had
returned from the US, he told Karen Demirchyan about the results of
his visit thoroughly and in detail, and the latter informed him about
those. `I don't deem appropriate to tell about the details of that
conversation, but I will do that word by word, if necessary,'
Shahverdyan said, adding that he had last met with Karen Demirchyan on
October 5 or 6, after which Demirchyan left for Moscow, where he had
had meetings with then Prime Minister of the Russian Federation
Vladimir Putin, ministers representing the country's economic
    interests.

`I met with Karen Serobich on October 28; serious decision had to be
made in Moscow. Let me say that our meeting that took place at the
beginning of October lasted for three hours. There could have been no
question of changing the external political course, moreover,
initiated by Karen Demirchyan. Particularly given his very successful
visit to Moscow, he could have never instigated such sentiment. And I
know that the Moscow visit was very successful. Therefore, such
information put into circulation today has nothing to do with the
reality,' Movses Shahverdyan who was considered a member of Karen
    Demirchyan's entourage says.
