Armenian presidential convoy fired at
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's convoy was fired at in Yerevan on
Wednesday; the police promised to report the details later, the
News-ArmeniaAgency informes on Friday.
The Zhogovurd (People) newspaper, with reference to their own sources,
reports that the fact of the car being fired at was confirmed by the
head of the Department of the State Protection Hrachia Aroutiunian.
"Our employees were heading to the airport at nighttime, and near the
cognac factory the escort car was fired at from a passing car. It
turned out the driver, who opened fire from his car, is a resident of
the city of Echmiadzin. The police were informed and reacted very
quickly, and the criminal has already been detected," Arutiunian said.
A representative of the police press-service assured that the details
of the incident would be reported later.
