    "Transparency International": Impunity reached its pick in Armenia

    Impunity has reached its pick in Armenia, an employee of the
    anti-corruption centre "Transparency International", Varuzhan
    Oktanyan, said over the public discussion "Systemized display of
    impunity and its affecting priority of law in Armenia", held in
    Yerevan on 23 November.

    He also added that impunity in the country is of a systemized nature
    as it has interfered all the structures and machineries of the state.

    For his part, the head of the Helsinki Assembly Vanadzor office, Artur
    Sakunts, said that 92 cases of death were fixed in mental hospitals of
    Armenia from 1 January 2010 till 1 January 2012, but no investigation
    was held.

    He also added that the number of the death cases in the army have
    grown. "Since the beginning of 2012, 43 soldiers have died in the
    country, 12 of which because of the ceasefire regime breaking, but the
    authorities ignored these cases as well", - he said.

    He also touched on torture of prisoners and flouting of their rights.
