AZERBAIJAN TRAMPLED ON ICAPP REGULATIONS - ARMENIA-BASED HERITAGE PARTY

Talking to Tert.am, Styopa Safaryan, Chief Secretary of the Heritage
party, said that the party will inform the International Secretariat
of the General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian
Political Parties (ICAPP) of its stance on what happened to Heritage
party Chairman Raffi Hovanisyan in Baku.
"What happened was an outrage indeed. Azerbaijan, as well as other
Muslim states, trampled on the ICAPP regulations. Raffi Hovanisyan's
presence exposed the real situation in that state and its intentions,
creating an unhealthy atmosphere. The Heritage party warned that
Azerbaijan was not a country to host such a conference," Mr Safaryan
said.
Heritage party Chairman Raffi Hovhannissyan tried to impede the
adoption of a declaration on Azerbaijan's "territorial integrity"
at the ICAPP General Assembly in Baku.
As to whether Mr Hovanisyan had any personal safety problems after
the incident, Mr Safaryan said: "Despite that aggressive behavior,
Armenia, or rather the Heritage party, did what it was to. I think
this must be said in Baku rather than from Yerevan."
