National Assembly MP Vartan Oskanian referred in his Facebook post
to the decision of the National Assembly to deprive him of immunity.
"A short while ago the parliament deprived me of parliamentary
immunity. During the same time we learnt that Georgia's President
Mikheil Saakashvili accepted his defeat at the parliamentary polls.
Actually, there is a political counter-balance in Georgia - a president
is from one party, while the legislative and executive powers will
soon be in the hands of other party. With it Georgia made ten steps
ahead of us," Oskanian wrote.
Ex-FM wrote Armenia had an opportunity to be the first in the region
during the past parliamentary elections. "You all remember my and
Prosperous Armenia party's ideological ground of political fight
which was the creation of counter-balance. Taking into consideration
people's mood during that period such result was unavoidable. But it
did not happen as the leadership of the ruling party did not have
the foresight to classify the interests of the state and people
above their narrow, personal interests. The elections were rigged,
and we have what we have. If we had that counter-balance today such
injustice would never happen in the parliament. This injustice is not
against me. It is against our people, common citizen, young generation
and our fate, in general," he concluded.
