AGRICULTURE AND TOURISM MAIN PRIORITIES OF VAYOTS DZOR DEVELOPMENT

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 3, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Vayots Dzor province has two
main directions of development namely agriculture and tourism.
Moreover those are intermingled as the development of tourism
simultaneously contributes to the development of
agriculture.Armenpress had an interview with Vayots Dzor
administrative union head Edgar Ghazaryan on the issues pertain to
province and projects .To the reporter~Rs question whether pasture
improvement programs in rural areas were of some benefit to the
region Ghazaryan was quoted as saying.'' There is an instruction by
Armenian President according to which all types of lands must be used.
The province implements sheep breeding development program. The
investments are mainly directed to those regions that have great
potential, yet the existing capacities are not being fully utilized.
The investors are set not to hinder traditional agriculture farmers,
but utilize the areas that have never been touched before. It mainly
refers to border areas and reportedly the means must be mainly
directed to the strengthening of those areas.
Vayots Dzor has two future economic development directions. As the
majority of the population is engaged in agriculture works
consequently the development of agriculture branches are of
conceptual importance. The second direction is tourism namely Jermuk
ad Yeghegis.
