ARMENIAN PRESIDENT MARKS CHINA'S NATIONAL DAY

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited the Chinese embassy here on
Monday to mark the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People's
Republic of China.
Sargsyan said the Chinese people turned over a new leaf 63 years ago,
and Armenia values its friendly relations with China. He said his
country hopes to maintain a sustainable development of the bilateral
ties.
The president said the two countries have conducted productive
cooperation in economics in recent years with increased bilateral trade
volume, which is expected to reach 500 million U.S. dollars next year.
Tian Changchun, the Chinese ambassador to Armenia, said the two
countries have maintained good relations since the establishment of
their diplomatic ties 20 years ago.
The Chinese government and people, Tian said, are glad to have such
a good partner as Armenia and appreciate the Armenian government and
people for their support on international affairs.
Meanwhile, both nations have also conducted active people-to-people
exchanges. The Chinese Culture Days will be held in Armenia in October,
which will build up the understanding between the two peoples,
Tian added.
Armenia and China forged diplomatic relations on April 6, 1992.
