ARMENIAN CATHOLICOS RECEIVES GERMAN BUNDESTAG DEPUTY CHAIR

ETCHMIADZIN. - The Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II on Tuesday
received a delegation led by Vice President Wolfgang Thierse of the
German Bundestag (Parliament).
The Catholicos informed that relations between the two countries
are developing. He noted that improving interparliamentary ties
will contribute to a deeper understanding of regional issues, and
expressed a satisfaction by the efforts to stabilize regional peace
and to pacifically resolve the problems, Information Center of the
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reports.
Also, Karekin II appreciated Wolfgang Thierse's important contribution
to the Armenian Genocide's recognition and condemnation by the German
Bundestag.
The interlocutors reflected on the cooperation between the Armenian
Apostolic Church and the sister churches, the church-state relations,
and the spiritual leaders' role in settling regional matters. In
addition, the Catholicos of All Armenians and the Bundestag Vice
President spoke about the churches' mission in the preservation of
national identity.
