WORLD SPREAD ARMENIAN JOURNALISTS TO DISCUSS THEIR PLANS ON THE THRESHOLD OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE 100TH ANNIVERSARY

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS: "Towards the 100th commemoration of the
Armenian Genocide" 6th Pan-Armenian Forum of Journalists launched in
Yerevan on 4 October. As Armenpress reports the conference is attended
by journalists, editors and public figures from various countries all
over the world. They are set to discuss what steps the journalistic
community will undertake towards the 100th commemoration of the
Armenian Genocide and how they are going to confront new challenges.
The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan sent an address
to the participants of Pan-Armenian 6th Forum. The address provided to
Armenpress by Presidential press secretary Armen Arzumanyan runs as
follows:" I appreciate the choice of theme as extremely topical. You
are going to hold discussions over an issue that is of vital importance
in pan Armenian agenda. Over a century has passed, you are already
the fourth, fifth generation of our world spread Armenians. It may
seem the time may cure the wounds, may mitigate the anguish, it is
probably Ottoman Empire wrong prediction.
History proves the opposite, Sardarapat and Artsakh struggles,
Armenian Independent Statehood, world spread Armenian churches and
schools, Tsitsernakaberd , numerous monuments dedicated to Armenian
Genocide and ten million of Armenians gathered together are a vivid
sample of the opposite. The fact of closed borders, war threat,
bellicose statements, axe-murder of sleeping officer are also Genocide
consequences. Reportedly it means Armenian Genocide recognition and
condemnation and its subsequent processes are not simply priorities
in Armenian political agenda but are global problems".
Hranush Hakobyan, Armenian Republic Minister of Diaspora welcomed
Armenian journalists hosted already for the sixth time in Homeland,
stating the Conference is aimed at specifying the plans journalists
have to call into life unanimously determined in confirmation of
justice. "We shall pass our path together and if needed struggle with
some neighbors". Hranush Hakobyan underscored currently our nation
faces new challenges.
Minister of Diaspora urged the journalists to write and speak about
the countries and international organizations that have recognized the
Armenian Genocide. "There is not a country that does not believe there
was a genocide. Our task is to present all it was the most monstrous
crime ever perpetrated towards the humanity and its recognition will
help to keep our planet from repetition of such incidents".
Conference participants will visit Tsitsernakaberd Monument , then
travel to Aghavnadzor, where the Conference is set to launch its
works until October 6.
