YEREVAN, October 4, ARMENPRESS: Artsakh Republic President Bako
Sahakyan sent an address to the participants of the "Towards the 100th
commemoration of the Armenian Genocide" 6th Pan-Armenian Forum of
Journalists launched in Yerevan on 4 October. As Central Information
Department of the Office of the President of the Artsakh Republic
President informed Armenpres, the address runs as follows:
"I welcome all the participants of the "Towards the 100th
commemoration of the Armenian Genocide" 6th All-Armenian Forum of
Journalists. Holding all-Armenian journalistic conferences has become
a good tradition. I am glad that the previous 5th conference was held
in Artsakh. Media are among the strategically important fields, which
touch upon all the spheres of public life. For us they are also one of
the key elements of strengthening the unity of the Armenian nation all
over the world, deepening and expanding the Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora
relations, preserving the Armenian national identity. Indeed,
the role of media is very difficult to overestimate, especially in
the contemporary era of globalization. From this very perspective
consolidating the efforts of the world spread Armenians towards the
international recognition and condemnation of the Genocide is of utmost
importance. Work in this direction requires close cooperation between
Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora political, media, academic, analytical
and other circles. It is also necessary to establish firm ties with
journalists and mass media organizations of different countries. It
is obvious that for the prevention of genocides such crimes should not
only be recognizes but also condemned. It is also indispensable carry
out practical measures towards preventing genocides. In this respect
it is necessary to give a new quality to coverage of the Artsakh issue
and condemnation of the ongoing anti-Armenian policy of Azerbaijan.I
am confident that the conference will successfully accomplish its
tasks and will contribute to further developing of practical ties in
the information sphere.I wish the conference fruitful work, success
and all the best to its participants".
