ARMENIA TO HAVE SEVERAL NEW HOSPITALS - MINISTER

YEREVAN. - A number of hospitals will be renovated next year in
Armenia and new ones will be built, too, Health Minister Derenik
Dumanyan said during a press conference on Friday.
He informed that a 190-bed capacity hospital will be constructed in
Vanadzor city and another one will be built in Meghri city. Also,
there are plans to modernize and renovate the hospitals of Kapan
and Berd cities. Activities are underway to complete the work in
Alaverdi city hospital. In addition, modern children oncohematology
and oncology centers will be built as well.
The Health Minister, however, confessed that the situation is very bad
at the hospital of Vagharshapat city. "As a temporary solution, the
[hospital's] maternity ward will be moved to another area, whereas
the conditions of the surgery, [and] the Traumatology [departments]
aren't bad," he noted.
