Settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict has to be actualized, former
Latvian president Valdis Zatlers said.
"We have always supported diplomatic and peaceful settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, however, this issue has to be actualized
every year. Any frozen conflict is still an unsolved problem, which
has to be settled," Zatlers told journalists in Baku.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988,
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian
armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts
