The situation in Aleppo, Syria, is heating up with every passing day,
and the Syrian Armenians are in extremely dire straits, especially,
after yesterday's explosions, Ani Zeytuntsyan, Head of the
Organization for the Support of Armenian Community of Syria, told
journalists in Yerevan on Friday.
She said that the explosions kill Armenians, Syrians and Arabs. "Only
few of the Syrian Armenians have found shelter in Armenia; most of the
Syrian Armenians are still in the combat zone in Aleppo. These people
are in a poor material condition and are unable to buy such expensive
air tickets to Yerevan. Moreover, the flights are made only once a
week, and this is not enough to serve such a big number of people",
she said.
Zeytuntsyan also pointed out that Syrian Armenians, like the residents
of the whole city, suffer shortage of water and lack of electricity.
She thanked that Government of Armenia and the Ministry of Diaspora
for the humanitarian aid.
To note, two Armenians died as a result of the Aleppo shelling. By
yesterday's data, the total number of Armenians who have became
victims of acts of terrorism and military actions in Aleppo is 32.
