This year Armenia is celebrating Teacher's Day on October 5.
Ashot Bleyan, director of Mkhitar Sebastatsi educational complex, says
today schools have numerous problems and the lack of spirituality is
the most important among them.
"If you are not imbued with this idea, you cannot carry out the
mission of transferring it to next generations," he stressed.
Regarding the problems of teachers, Mr Bleyan said, "Teacher are paid
lower salaries and as far as I know, no changes are expected in this
regard in the next three years."
The director of the educational complex says all positive changes made
in the sector are structural but meaningless.
"They heat schools, repair buildings but do not introduce essential
changes in the content. Why should a person learn 12 years at school,
then four years in the university and join the ranks of the unemployed
and leave the country? 12 years of learning could be justified if a
person became a specialist and earned his bread with it," Mr Bleyan
concluded.
