PRESS RELEASE REGARDING THE OPENING OF HANKENDI AIRPORT IN NAGORNO KARABAKH
ANKARA, Turkey
The following information was released by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the Republic of Turkey:
It has been announced that the Hankendi airport in Nagorno Karabakh,
which has been under Armenian occupation since 1992, was brought into
service as of 28 September 2012 and that test flights would start soon
in this airport.
Such a step clearly constitutes a provocation which would disrupt the
negotiation process aimed at the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh
conflict.
Such provocative fait accomplis would obviously not be helpful for
ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the Caucasus. With this
understanding, we call upon Armenia to behave with common sense and to
refrain from actions which could threaten the region's peace.
