YEREVAN. - The unveiling of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) capital
city's Stepanakert Airport brought forth new militaristic statements by
Azerbaijan and Turkey alike, yet they will not go beyond statements,
Armenia's ruling Republican Party MP and National Assembly Standing
Committee on Foreign Relations Chairman Artak Zakaryan said during
a press conference on Monday.
In his words, Azerbaijan's threats were solely verbal and, in
the practical sense, that country will take no action. "I don't
think official Baku would be that much myopic to resort to actions
against civil aviation, since it is an International Civil Aviation
Organization [ICAO] member," the MP noted.
In addition, as per Zakaryan, making militaristic statements against
civil aviation is unacceptable for the international community. "If
Baku resorts to actions, sanctions will be imposed upon Azerbaijan,"
he stressed.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, NKR's Stepanakert Airport
has officially been launched.
