PanARMENIAN.Net - Former envoy to Lebanon Arman Navasardyan commented
on a hotly debated interview with a famous chansonnier, Armenian
Ambassador to Switzerland Charles Aznavour, who disagreed with
Armenia's Turkey-related foreign policy.
According to Navasardyan, the Armenian authorities were mistaken in
appointing Aznavour as an ambassador. "The leadership did a disservice
to Aznavour, giving him an appointment he was badly fitted for,"
he said.
Navasardyan further slammed the Deputy Foreign Minister who earlier
said that Charles Aznavour is allowed to voice his personal views.
"Aznavour, as an ambassador, is supposed to back up his country's
policy line, rather than speak out his mind," Navasardyan said.
At the same time, he expressed his agreement with Aznavour's remark,
urging to normalize ties with Turkey. "As a pacifist, I always support
improvement of relations with our neighbors," he said.
