IN A REPORT REGARDING SAFAROV CASE PACE WILL SUGGEST NEW MECHANISMS FOR EXCLUDING SUCH CASES IN FUTURE

    ARMENPRESS

    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS. During the Autumn Sessions of
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Armenian delegates
managed to talk about Safarov's case. This was announced by David
Harutyunyan, head of Armenian parliamentary delegation in PACE during
the press conference. He underlined that Azerbaijani representatives
also talked about this question trying to draw parallels with Varujan
Karapetyan's case. Anyway, many deputies supported position of the
Armenian side. Head of the Armenian delegation in PACE was glad to
announce that even Hungarian deputies condemn this incident declaring
that their government made a terrible mistake in this question.

As "Armenpress" reports, David Harutyunyan said that Legal Committee
of PACE will make a report based upon recent discussion regarding
Safarov's case, where new mechanisms can be suggested for excluding
    such cases in future.

According to Harutyunyan the matter is abuse of international
agreements defined by Council of Europe. "This report is not about
Azerbaijan, but it springs out from Safarov's case. And the Legal
Committee must discuss this question basing upon Safarov's case. A
new suggestion could be made regarding admission of a new formula for
avoiding such cases or coming into a general conclusion and how to
remain loyal to the spirit of the agreement". Said David Harutyunyan
underlining that preparation of such projects takes two years.
