AZERBAIJAN THREATENS FOREIGN COMPANIES OPERATING IN STEPANAKERT AIRPORT

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS: Azerbaijan continues to express
its concerns pertain to the opening of Airport in the Capital of
Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Elman
Abdullayev came forth with a statement regarding this issue, Armenpress
reports citing 1news.az. This time Azerbaijani FMA spokesman expressed
his dissatisfaction concerning the foreign companies' activities,
particularly dwelling on French Tales Company.
Stating that the company must immediately cease its activities in
the airport, spokesman even threatened " Otherwise Azerbaijan will
apply equivalent measures against the company" .
Once again trying to raise a big fuss Foreign Ministry representative
stated as though Armenia has further goals to use the airport for
military purposes. Rumors referring to Stepanakert Airport do not cease
lately. Reportedly Azerbaijani mass media is busy with speculating
their traditional disinformation. Azerbaijani APA agency based on
its , so calling diplomatic sources , issued a statement, as if there
is an internal agreement between Turkey and Azerbaijan, according to
which Turkey will close the airspace for Armenia if Armenians launch
flights to Nagorno-Karabakh. While it is obvious Azerbaijani mass
media's regular groundless statement may not correspond to reality:
Turkey despite its friendly attitude towards Azerbaijan will hardly
take such a step.
"Similar step by Official Ankara will once again prove they are
leading hostile and destructive politics towards Armenia " Ruben
Melkonyan Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies YSU told in
the briefing with Armenpress. "Turkey completely retards from 21st
century by possessing close borders with Armenia. Airspace closure
threats deepens the fact this country cannot find its place in the
range of civilized states" specialist on Turkey underscored.
