"Hrant Bagratyan talks about the government, criticizes and stuff...
today. Bro, you have destroyed this country, inflicted billions of
dollars' worth damage on this country, now you have stood up and say
'Tigran Sargsyan does it wrong.' Didn't we tell you thousands of times
and you didn't do it. The Mazut Case.... Can you imagine? Today people
come to power and say what Mazut Case, what are you talking about,
what years of dark and cold, has it ever happened?" Arshak Sadoyan,
the leader of the Union of National Democrats and a former MP, recalled
the famous Mazut Case again talking about Hrant Bagratyan, an Armenian
National Congress (ANC) MP, during a conversation with www.aravot.am.
Hrant Bagratyan clearly explained to the residents of regions during
the ANC election campaign that if there had been such a case, he should
have been arrested. And since he hasn't been arrested, it is clear that
no such thing has happened. In response to that observation of ours,
Arshak Sadoyan said the following, "So that is how it is, huh? There
hasn't been such a case, huh? It is a different matter that before
arresting there should have been a document. Look, for example, they
say political... so let them arrest Vartan Oskanian. There is that
case now, a million and a half, isn't there? And Oskanian doesn't
deny it. Hrant Bagratyan doesn't say that it hasn't happened, does
he? He says I don't have anything to do with it. We say weren't you
the Prime Minister? You should have taken care of it."
Talking about the parliamentary life and the activity shown by the ANC,
its questions, Mr. Sadoyan observed, "Hrant Bagratyan, no matter how
curly ... [he used a swearword, which we don't make public, H.J.] he
is, he was the Prime Minister, he knows many things. When people
with so much knowledge become a member of parliament, they refresh
the work of the parliament. However, it doesn't mean that from the
perspective of political struggle, prospects etc., I wouldn't say at
least today that the people have respect for MPs as such, not from
the perspective of money and that after the ANC members became MPs,
the respect has increased. On the contrary, they are all the same. One
should take serious steps, fundamental steps here. It is very strange
for me that Taron Margaryan as the mayor has gained so much popularity
within a short period of time. He had been working before that too,
even flowers, decorating... and stuff. However, can the ANC, the
Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) or any other force offer a way?"
We reminded that the ANC had proposed the 100-step program, he replied,
"What effing 100 steps, I can offer 150. No problem with that. Guess
he says I have a program of increasing pensions ten times.
I say how can we give it, from where, he says somewhere, diminish
the shadow economy. We ask how we can do that, he says it is your
business, we don't care. When the curly ... [a swearword again, H.J.]
was the Prime Minister, I made an offer to increase the minimum wage
10 times explaining that it will cost the government nothing, because
it will lead to diminishing the shadow economy. I told Bagratyan what
Bagratyan says today. Now he has copied and says on his own behalf."
