U.S. AMBASSADOR: ACCUSATION AGAINST OSKANIAN IS A BAD DEVELOPMENT FOR JUSTICE AND DEMOCRACY IN ARMENIA

Yerevan/Mediamax/. U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern said
today that the official accusation against Vardan Oskanian is a bad
development for justice and democracy in Armenia.
Presenting the U.S. stance on this issue, he noted that as he had
said previously as well, the case appeared to represent the selective
application of Armenian law.
"Moreover, the timing of these events in relation to the election
schedule is troubling", noted the Ambassador.
"We urge the Government of Armenia to live up to its commitments to
the systematic, fair and transparent implementation of the rule of
law", concluded John Heffern.
