YEREVAN, October 12. / ARKA /. "Armenia is a unique country for lovers
of historical, cultural, and event tourism and in this sense it is
quite self-sufficient. Here in a few days, one can get the full range
of high quality tourism services," Yuri Lagusev, the rector of the
Russian International Academy of Tourism said in an interview with
Novosti Armenia.
Lagusev was among the participants of the first scientific tourism
expedition in Armenia, which was conducted from September 30 to
October 9 by the Russian International Academy of Tourism and its
Armenian branch - the Armenian Tourism Institute.
The unprecedented event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Russia
was to help reveal Armenia's tourism potential and promote its
development. The route ran through the whole of Armenia - from north
to south. According to Lagusev, Armenia's tourism potential is high.
"The beauty of its nature and cultural attractions are amazing,"
Lagusev said.
He said in order to bring more tourists there should be various
events. "If there is an attractive event, spiritual or athletic, as
well as cultural events, festivals, they will bring more tourists to
Armenia," he said.
"For example, Armenia's open championships of water and mountainous
tourism will attract athletes, coaches and fans," he said. -0-
