ARMENIAN POLITICIAN WARNS OF FORCES SEEKING 'ORANGE REVOLUTION'

Haik Babukhanyan, Chairman of the Constitutional Law Union (CLU),
believes that the major cause of the political wrangling in Armenia
lies in foreign policy.
At his meeting with journalists on Friday he stated that the forces
dreaming of an "Orange Revolution" in Armenia are more active now,
playing a somewhat different role, however.
"A similar attempt to carry out such a revolution failed in 2008,"
Babukhanyan said. The aforementioned forces' aim is to cause Armenia
to follow a course that would meet the West's interests, he added.
Armenia's important geopolitical location is the reason for a serious
struggle for establishing control over the country.
To gain control over this location, the West has selected a new actor
as Levon Ter-Petrosyan is actually a political outsider.
"The opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) is unable, while
the other pro-western forces promoted by the West, Raffi Hovanisyan
and Free Democrats, have been seen unlivable," Babukhanyan said.
According to him, the aforementioned new actor is Vartan Oskanian,
the aim being to enact the Libyan scenario.
"That is, changing power in the country by means of civil war and
establishing the political forces that would serve their interests,"
Babukhanyan said.
In this context, he claimed the community of two forces' interests.
"The outside forces' interests in selecting a 'will-doer' and, inside
Armenia, the interests of Robert Kocharyan, who has been seeking to
return to politics," Babukhanyan said.
With respect to charges against Armenia's ex-FM Vartan Oskanian,
he does not welcome the U.S. ambassador's interference.
"Nothing but unusual money circulation is being investigated, but the
ambassador tried to interfere and exert pressure. Our party stated
that they should not interfere in our domestic affairs."
Babukhanyan also intends to propose a bill on foreign agents as
"our state is obviously under threat."
