The office of the Chairman of the Union of Russian Armenians Ara
Abrahamian has not released a statement in defense of Armenia's
former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian, Abrahamian stated at a news
conference on Friday.
He did not tried to clarify who has released the statement either,
as like he said, he does not rely on media much, saying mass media
even wrote that Vladimir Putin has kicked him out of Russia.
In the evening of October 2 a false statement has been released on
behalf of the Union calling to start a signature gathering against
the process of depriving Oskanian of parliamentary immunity. Next
morning the union refuted the information, claiming they did not
issue any statement.
"It is a very bad case and does not do good to anyone, it is
just necessary to understand that there is a state and there are
authorities. We should be patient and see how this story will end,"
Abrahamian said, referring to the criminal charges against Vartan
Oskanian.
"We have not issued a statement over the case. No pressure has been
exerted on us by the the authorities, I am not the one to be easily
pressed," he said, adding that the establishment headed by him defends
President Serzh Sargsyan.
"We are standing by the side of the President. I am a person who
understands statehood. Serzh Sargsyan is our pride, the President of
this state," President of the World Armenian Congress stated, adding
that he knows our homeland and knows both its bad and good sides.
