Talk of memorial to Armenian Archbishop HONOURING CONTRIBUTION

WILLOUGHBY Council will enter into discussions with the Armenian
Church Council to establish a memorial to the late Archbishop of the
Armenian Church, Aghan Baliozian, who died last month.

The council's general manager will return a report on the location and
type of memorial after contacting the church.

Willoughby mayor Pat Reilly made the announcement at Monday's council meeting.

He said it was fitting the council honour the contribution His
Eminence had made to the Willoughby area: ``Council wants to see this
happen given the man's been a pioneer of extending not only the
Armenian community in the area but their culture.

``He's been very much a strong supporter of Australian-Armenian relationships.''

The Primate of the Armenian Church of Australia and New Zealand died
suddenly on September 22, aged 66, after residing in Chatswood and
Willoughby for a number of years.

More than 600 people came to the funeral last Thursday at the Armenian
Apostolic Church of Holy Resurrection in Chatswood.
