YEREVAN, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS: Israel's President Shimon Peres
received Armen Melkonyan, Armenian Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary to Israel. Armenian Ambassador jointly with five
Ambassadors handed their credentials to Israeli President, Peres
posted in his Facebook page. As Armenpress reports, the head of the
country wrote:
"The ambassador has an important and crucial role in the diplomatic
relations between countries. For this reason I was happy to welcome
six new ambassadors in my residence, from Cote d'Ivoire, Italy,
Malta, and Armenia as well as from Egypt and Jordan, after two years
without a Jordanian ambassador to Israel. The peace between us saved
the lives of tens of thousands of young people in Jordan, Egypt,
the Middle East and in Israel. The lives of the young people are
the most important concern. I know it's not simple, I know there are
people who try to frustrate peace and I believe that our governments
will do whatever they can to keep the peace between us deep, sincere,
strong and serious for the sake of your people and for the sake of our
people. I know this is an unfinished job because you, as well as us,
would like to see peace across the Middle East. Feel welcome and at
home in our country. All doors are open to you in order to strengthen
the relationships and increase the cooperation between our countries.
Diplomatic relations between Armenia and Israel were established on
April 4, 1992. During the period of 1993-2007 Armenia was covered
from the Embassy of Israel in Georgia . Since 2007 the residence of
the Embassy moved to Jerusalem. On October 2010 Shmuel Meirom was
appointed as Ambassador of Israel in Armenia. In 1996 Mr. Tsolak
Momjian was appointed as Honorary Consul of Armenia in Jerusalem".
