The union of compatriots of Nig-Aparan headed by Prosecutor General
Aghvan Hovsepyan is building a huge cross on the road Yerevan-Aparan,
which is perhaps supposed to convince people that Hovsepyan is
a Christian.
Christianity is based on the ideology of kindness and equality. For
centuries, Christian people used to prove their devotion to God by
doing good things, trying to give everyone equal lives. There are
charitable hospitals in many countries built by Christians where
sisters of charity work. Those who have nowhere else to go, who have
no money, can get treatment in those hospitals.
In a country where 38% of the population is poor, the construction
of a huge cross is unforgivable luxury. Christians should not waste
money on a cross when there are a lot of poor people around, when
people live in temporary houses and die because they have no money to
go to the doctor and 54% of children with disabilities are also poor.
Construction of crosses, dancing around a mountain and erecting stone
letters around Aragats is not an expression of goodness but usual
demonstration of perverse manners of those who honor the ~Sgolden
calf~T instead of God. People who suddenly came to a fortune deep down
realize that they seized what belongs to the others not by Christian
rules, and so they try to show that they don~Rt spend money on sinful
acts. Maybe someone is trying to earn pardon.
