Armenia Embassy in Lebanon confirms news on the death of an Armenian

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 20, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Embassy in Lebanon confirmed
the news on the death of Armenian Georgette Sarkisian . Tigran
Balayan, Foreign Affair Ministry spokesman stated in the briefing with
Armenpress .
Earlier Avo Kitanyan, ARF Lebanon based central office representative
, "Voice of Van" radio director told in the briefing with Armenpress
two Armenians were injured namely Kilis Derchakyan and nine-year old
Noy Dodelyan in the course of October 19 explosion orchestrated in
Lebanon capital Beirut .
A mined machine was shelled in Beirut Ashrafie Christian district
drawing panic among the population. 8 people were killed and 94 were
injured due to the explosion. Before this Secretary-General of the
United Nations Ban Ki-moon expressed his anxiety about the effects of
the Syrian crisis on Lebanon. According to him the situation in
Syrian-Lebanese border is very tense. Large numbers of Syrian
emigrants leave to Lebanon to avoid the clashes in their country. Ban
Ki-moon is uncertain about settlement of the Syrian emigrants in
Lebanon as the clashes between Alevi and Sunni Muslims can destabilize
the situation. Catherine Ashton EU High Representative for Foreign
Affairs and Security Policy also expressed concern over the situation
in Lebanon.
