HUNGARIAN FOREIGN MINISTER ONCE AGAIN JUSTIFIED BEFORE US SECRETARY HILLARY CLINTON
YEREVAN, OCTOBER 19, ARMENPRESS: Hungarian government is deeply
disappointed in Azerbaijani action which was granting pardon to the
perpetrator Ramil Safarov despite a prior guarantee about Safarov to
continue carrying punishment in his country. As reports Armenpress
referring to Hungarian independent news resource Politics, this was
declared by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Janos Martonyi during
the meeting with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Through these
comments Martonyi tried to justify himself before Clinton.
Azeri perpetrator Ramil Safarov hacked Armenian officer Gurgen
Margaryan with an axe during the training courses organized by NATO
in Budapest on February 19, 2004. Safarov was sentenced to a life
imprisonment without the right of granting clemency in first 30 years.
Armenia suspended diplomatic relations with Hungary on August 31 when
life-sentenced perpetrator Ramil Safarov was extradited and pardoned
in Azerbaijan.
