CONFERENCE OF CIS EDUCATION MINISTERS FOCUSED ON DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMMON EDUCATIONAL AREA

The 19th Conference of CIS Education Ministers and the Conference
of Teachers and Education Workers of CIS member States were held in
Yerevan September 18-19. The events brought together 500 delegates
from nine countries.
According to Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan,
both conferences focused on issues of reinforcement and development
of the common educational area in the CIS. Issues related to the
problems existing in the region were discussed, possible ways of
their solution were presented.
"During yesterday's meeting of the 19th Ministerial Conference
we discussed new programs, which were positively assessed by all
participants," Armen Ashotyan told a press conference today.
"In particular we agreed to create a network college of CIS countries
and discussed issues related to higher education. Armenia, as a
country, which has assumed the secretariat of the Bologna Process,
has suggested its methodological support during the implementation
of educational reforms in CIS," the Minister said.
The Ministers discussed also issues related to provision of double
diplomas and education in the field of art. Great attention was paid
to the "Eurostudent" educational program.
Russian Education Minister Igor Remorenko noted, in turn, that
the improvement of the quality of education was at the focus of
attention of all participants. Ukraine's representative Irina Zaytseva
appreciated the fact that the conference not only discussed problems,
but also suggested ways of their solution.
The next Conference of Teachers and Education Workers of CIS will
take place in Minsk in 2014.
