ARMENIA TO HAVE AMBASSADOR IN GUATEMALA

YEREVAN. - Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian arrived in Guatemala, in
the latter half of Tuesday, and met with his Guatemalan counterpart,
Harold Caballeros.
Caballeros noted that not much has been done ever since 1998, when
diplomatic ties were established between both countries, but added
that he is glad to welcome Nalbandian in Guatemala City and to hold
discussions on developing bilateral relations, Armenian MFA press
service informs.
In his turn, Armenia's FM expressed confidence that there is a great
potential to enhance ties between the two countries, and stressed that
the simultaneous accreditation of Armenia's Ambassador to Guatemala
will contribute to this process.
Also, the two foreign ministers made arrangements on several agenda
issues.
In addition, Edward Nalbandian briefed his Guatemalan colleague about
the primary directions of Armenia's foreign policy and the efforts
to resolve regional matters.
On Wednesday, Armenia's FM also met with Gudy Rivera Estrada, President
of the National Congress of Guatemala.
Head of the Guatemalan parliament said this year will symbolize a
new beginning for Armenian-Guatemalan relations. He informed that
several National Congress deputies have expressed a wish to form a
friendship group with Armenia's National Assembly (NA). In his turn,
Edward Nalbandian conveyed to Estrada NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan's
salutations.
The interlocutors exchanged views on forming cooperation between the
two parliaments
Along the lines of his visit to Guatemala, Armenia's FM also gave an
extensive interview to Guatemala's Noti7 television.
