A serious progress cannot be expected from the upcoming meeting between
the Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs-namely, Edward Nalbandian and Elmar
Mammadyarov-with respect to settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
because this meeting is aimed at ensuring dialogue, political scientist
Alexander Markarov told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In his words, after Ramil Safarov's release Azerbaijan was considering
it probable that Armenia would withdraw from the negotiation process,
but this did not happen. "The Armenian party yet again will present
its position in connection with Safarov's extradition and [subsequent]
pardon," the analyst said.
Markarov noted that during their meeting both FMs will discuss the
preparation of the fundamental principles for the resolution of the
Karabakh question. As per the political scientist, other developments
and discussions are not expected.
