YEREVAN. -Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgian alliance is united by desire
to strengthen Armenia's blockade, expert in Turkish studies Hagop
Chkaryan told reporter adding that countries' positions on other
geopolitical issues differ.
For example, he said, Turkey has claims for Adjara (Georgia), the
position of Turkey and Azerbaijan will not agree on the issue of
Iran and Israel. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan and Georgia have differences
on border line, etc. In fact, all three countries are united by one
thing - hatred towards Armenians.
Georgia, sacrificing Armenia's interests aims for immediate profits.
Such a policy, will appear to be harmful for Georgia in a long-term
perspective, he added.
In his turn, an MP and head of the Javakhk Union Shirak Torosian said
there are only two countries in the world, except for Azerbaijan, where
"being Armenian is a shame". These states are Turkey and Georgia,
he stressed. For example, in Georgia, you can often hear the phrase
"a good guy, I wish he were not Armenian".
Torosyan noted that during the recent years Tbilisi's policy led to
increased Turkish-Azerbaijani factor in Georgia. Turkey's projects in
Adjara led to a significant flow of Turks in this region, the airport
in Batumi is considered as internal system of air traffic in Turkey.
The MP noted that road construction projects within Millennium
Challenge program and construction of power plants in Javakhk is
entrusted to Turkish or Azerbaijani companies, as a result the number
of Turks in the region has also increased sharply.
Hakob Chakryan stressed that Turkey's actions in the region will be
prevented. The region is an area of Russian, U.S. and the EU interests,
thus super powers will not permit strengthening of Turkish factor.
