LEVON MELIK-SHAHNAZARYAN: AZERBAIJAN WILL HAVE TO RECOGNIZE ARTSAKH SOONER OR LATER

The recognition of the Republic of Artsakh by the Australian State
of New South Wales is part of a chain, political scientist Levon
Melik-Shahnazaryan told a press conference today. According to him,
the recognition of Southern Sudan by Azerbaijan was another link in
that chain. According to the political scientist all this gave strong
arguments to the Armenian Foreign Minister ahead of the Paris meeting.
Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan does not doubt that Azerbaijan will have
to recognize the Republic of Artsakh sooner or later. He does not
share the opinion that the recognition of NKR is wrong; he does not
see any controversies from the legal point of view, either.
According to the political scientist, the progress in the process of
NKR recognition is a result of the coordinated policy of the Armenian
National Committees, Armenia and the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.
Without demonstrating extra optimism Melik-Shahnazaryan said "if the
pace continues, we'll have a few more decisions on the recognition
of Artsakh in 2013."
