    USA NAVY AND ARMENIAN ARMED FORCES TO HAVE JOINT MILITARY EXERCISES

    YEREVAN, OCTOBER 29, ARMENPRESS: Armenia highly evaluates the further
    development with the Navy of USA. Armenpress cited the declaration
    of Armenian Minister of Defence Seyran Ohanyan made during the joint
    briefing with Ray Mabus United States Secretary of the Navy. He
    appreciated the current level of the relations, the evidence of
    which is the regular mutual visits. "2011 and 2012 have been rather
    efficient for the development of relation in defence sphere and
    the mutual visits are considered as an evidence that the bilateral
    relations have a great potential to develop" the Minister noted.

    He reminded that the cooperation between Armenia and the USA has
    two directions, peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan and Kosovo. A
    wide range of issues concerning the steady and secure situation in
    the world has been discussed during the meeting. Interlocutors also
    referred to the current situation in Afghanistan. Mabus expressed
    his admiration over the skills and activity of Armenian servicemen
    in Kosovo and Afghanistan. According to him, the mutual visits come
    to prove the deepness of the relation. He also reminded about the
    military exercises of USA Navy during which Armenian subdivisions
    presented up to par. Mabus informed that military exercises are to
    be held in near future.

    Ray Mabus is the 75th United States Secretary of the Navy. Mabus served
    as the 60th Governor of the U.S. state of Mississippi from 1988 to
    1992 and as United States Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 1994 to 1996.
