ARMENIA ABLE TO TAKE LEADING POSITION IN GLOBAL JEWELRY INDUSTRY

YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. Armenia has the potential for taking a
leading position in the world~Rs jewelry industry, President of World
Jewellery Confederation Gaetano Cavalieri told ARKA Agency.
Armenia~Rs unique geographical position between Asia with Europe bears
serious potential, Cavalieri said at the conference on prospects of
Armenian jewelry industry Tuesday.
According to Armenia~Rs National Statistical Service, production of
jewelry grew by 5.4% and totaled 8.63bln drams in the first 8 months
of 2012 as compared with the same period of the year before.
According to Cavalieri, Armenian communities worldwide play
considerable role in the global jewelry industry today.
The conference on prospects of Armenian jewelry industry was devoted
to the 15th anniversary of the Armenian Jewelers Association and was
held under the second Jewellery Expo where jewelers from 20 countries
are presented, including Armenia, Russia, the USA, Thailand, Italy,
France, Lebanon and India. The exhibition is held in Yerevan from
October 29 to October 31.
Armenian Jewelers Association (AJA) was founded in 1997 and brought
together Armenian jewelers from all over the world. The aim of the AJA
is to consolidate the efforts of Armenian jewellers toward development
of jewellery industry in the country. The AJA has its US East and West
Coast representatives, as well as regional representatives in Europe,
