Chairman of the Union of Architects Mkrtich Minasyan said the
three-arched building in the Yerevan Republic Square is nothing but a
proposal of artist-designer Eduard Vaneskekhyan.
Speaking to Tert.am, he calmed down all those who are against the
building, saying he does not treat the idea seriously. He said the
idea will not even be discussed.
Vaneskekhyan has sent a letter-proposal to Armenia's President Serzh
Sargsyan suggesting construction of the arch in the center of which
the biggest coat of arms of the world will be placed.
Mkrtich Minasyan said no question has been raised to fill the empty
area of the square. He stressed that many architects feel their debt
to draft something new for the area and discuss it.
The chairman of the union said there is no novelty in the proposal as
such triumphal arches were previously offered to.
Vaneskekhyan's proposal was widely discussed in the social networks as
well. In particular, member of the Heritage party Styopa Safaryan on
his Facebook page offered Vaneskekhyan to test his architectural ideas
in other place.
