Hungary's disgraceful act with Azerbaijan has undermined the European
Union's reputation but this will not affect our cooperation with
Europe, Turkologist Ruben Melkonyan said in an interview with ArmInfo
when asked to comment of Hungary's decision to extradite murderer
Ramil Safarov to Azerbaijan.
He believes that now that Azerbaijan has shown its true face, the
OSCE Minsk Group should change its policy as it is already clear who
is who in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
Melkonyan said that Russia's silence may disappoint the Armenians.
"The Russians have no right not to condemn the Azeris' meanness. On
the other hand, they have their own interests in the region and are
a the OSCE MG co-chair, so, they may just be unwilling to spoil their
relations with Azerbaijan," the expert said.
