There is a problem of Armenian churches in the Georgian territory
and it must be settled taking into consideration the interests of
Georgian citizens of Armenian origin, the chairman of the Irakli
II Society Archil Chkoidze said at the session of the council of
Georgia's ethnic minorities' leaders.
As "Yerkramas" newspaper of the Russia based Armenians informs, the
chairman of the Georgian non-governmental organization also touched
upon the issue of the Armenian Genocide recognition and condemnation.
"I think the Armenian Genocide must be recognised in a country where
300 000 ethnic Armenians live, especially when Georgia has recognized
the genocide of the Circassian people. The historical justice demands
that. I am sure that a memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims must
be erected in Georgia, where our compatriots could visit to pay a
tribute to the memory of the innocent victims," he said.
