Today, the students of Yerevan State University welcomed the NATO
Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen chanting "justice". While
Rasmussen was delivering a lecture inside the university, students
were protesting outside.
In his speech, Rasmussen dwelt on the NATO-Armenia cooperation. Then,
answering students' questions relating to Ramil Safarov's extradition,
he noted that NATO continues supporting the peace settlement of
the Karabakh issue. NATO Secretary General called on the parties
to continue the constructive negotiations underlining the military
solution of the issue is unacceptable. He noted that the only guilty
of Safarov's release is Azerbaijan, while Hungary and NATO didn't
want to be parts of the scenario.
Rasmussen called on the Armenian party not to cause further tension
recalling that it would harm the regional stable development. He also
noted he is going to leave for Baku tomorrow where he will convey
the bewilderment of the Armenian side.
