Armenia
Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said today
that the brutal murder of Gurgen Margaryan in 2004 and the latest
developments in Safarov's case "should not cast shadow on Armenia-NATO
relations."
The Armenian President said this at a joint press conference with
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Yerevan today,
Mediamax reports.
The President said that the right for life of Armenian officer Gurgen
Margaryan was violated in Budapest in 2004 during NATO's Partnership
for Peace training course.
"Unfortunately, we became the witnesses of how NATO's principles
and rules are being violated, but this should not cast shadow on
Armenia-NATO relations," the Armenian President said.
He also noted that Azerbaijan's pardoning of Safarov and his
glorification "is a challenge to all normally thinking people" and
it undermines peace in the region.
Serzh Sargsyan pointed out that "Hungary could not have been unaware
that Safarov will be justified in Azerbaijan." At the same time, the
Armenian leader thanked all the Hungarians who stay near Armenians
today.
